Well what a ride we’ve all been on over the past year or so. We hope you’ve managed to get through with health and grace, and that you manage to find some time to pause over the coming holiday season to find balance.
Deb and I have agreed that like many other businesses, in the interests of all our clients, from Monday December 13th 2021 it will be a requirement that all clients will need to be fully vaccinated with a Covid-19 vaccine to access the studio. This is due to our own risk profile given our age cohort, and Deb’s compromised immunity due to her MS medication regime. Though we are both fully vaccinated, we believe to not take this stance would pose an unacceptable risk to us and anyone else that comes through the door, particularly those in the older age cohort.
Given that children aged 5 – 11 will be eligible for vaccination in the New Year but may only have had the chance to get a first dose by the start of the school term, we will still be happy to see them, however we will be rigorous in safety protocols and ask that piano students wear a mask, (singers may be mask free but observe social distancing rules), I will mask up while teaching, and hand sanitising on entry to and exit from the studio will be monitored. Protocols regarding our Covid-19 safety plan (see below) will continue with time requested between clients for surfaces to be sanitised before entry to the studio.
Alternatively, I am happy to offer an online lesson option to younger students yet to receive their first dose, or to older students and adults who are unvaccinated for other reasons.
The Qld Check In app allows you to link your vaccination certificate via either the MyGov portal or the Medicare app. I imagine that by the start of the new term most of us will be so used to showing this on entry to many venues that it will be second nature by then. We hope you will oblige us in showing this on entry to the studio if we ask to see it.
Deb and I wish you all the best for the holidays and look forward to another year of great music making in 2022.

Studio Covid-19 Safety Plan
Covid-19 vaccination is required to enter the studio
Please do not enter the studio if you have a fever or symptoms of respiratory infection (cough, sore throat, shortness of breath)
If you have returned from overseas, travelled from or through a designated Covid-19 hotspot, or been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19: (coronavirus) in the last 14 days, please make sure that you are compliant with State and/or Federal Government requirements for quarantine and testing.
Please allow time between clients before entering the studio for necessary surfaces to be disinfected. On entering and exiting the studio please use the hand sanitizer provided on the bookcase next to the door, or BYO if preferred.
If you need to use the toilet please wash your hands thoroughly in the laundry with the liquid soap provided and dry your hands with the paper towels only. Please place used paper towels into the bin provided.
It is preferred that only the student be in the studio, however if a parent or other party wish to enter please be conscious of social distancing rules.
Singers please bring a second copy of your music if I don’t have it in my library. Be prepared to sing either from memory or “a cappella” if you are unable to provide this. Safe distancing for singers requires that you keep to your side of the piano!
Pianists please refrain from touching your face, or wiping your nose or eyes for the duration of the lesson. If you need to blow your nose or cough please re-sanitize your hands.
Please advise us if you feel unwell at any time during the lesson. We respectfully reserve the right to refuse entry to the studio or continuation of a lesson if a client appears unwell, or refuses to confirm vaccination status.
We appreciate your cooperation.
